The 2007-2008 season will be the second year a group of like-minded individuals will showcase a different viewpoint on skiing and film making. Building on the success of last year's debut film, IDEA, will be a series of five webisodes and one full length feature film under a new company called, Nimbus Independent.
Nimbus Independent was formed in October of 2007 by Eric Pollard, based out of Welches, Oregon. The "Hunting Yeti" films are produced by Nimbus Independent, in association with Poor Boyz Productions.

This is the fifth and final webisode which completes a great first year for Nimbus Independent and the Hunting Yeti series. Enjoy the summer exploits of Chris, Pep, and Sammy as they travel and film themselves in Australia, Argentina and New Zealand. Thanks for all the support and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks,

Hello friends of Nimbus Independent. We are happy to announce the DVD is done and available for purchase. We would greatly appreciate if you would support the cause by purchasing the DVD. For us to continue and give you free webisodes, we need to generate a little revenue.
The DVD is different from other ski films and the webisodes. It's based on themes like ski culture, escapism, style, small resorts, night riding and why these athletes and friends came together to create Nimbus Independent. Not the typical formula of athlete or location based segments. This film tries to answer the question, "what is it about skiing"?
You can purchase the DVD at your local ski shop. If they don't have it, tell them to order a copy from VAS Entertainment. Or you can buy them online from Rip.Tv, Poorboyz.com and Evogear.com.
From everybody at the Nimbus Crew, thanks so much for the support. It's been awesome. The Crew is now off in Chile, Argentina, NZ and Australia getting the goods for the final, 5th webisode on October 15th.
Cheers!!!
Hello Nimbus fans and supporters. This is Chris here reporting in from my endless summer of Hunting Yeti’s...
It all started with a crew discussion of taking a road trip down to Mexico for a month. It was the plan all season, until we unfortunately lost the keys to Pollard’s shackles, which had him locked to his 22-hour days of editing. Andy got up close and personal with a softball, leaving him a new grill and a large dental bill. And the news channel’s left us skeptical of traveling as clueless Gringos all the way through Mexico for an entire month.
With that in mind, when Eric found a free moment, the crew (sans Andy) booked a 10-day flight to Cabo, Mexico. As a whole (of passionate not so great surfers), we wanted to document a trip away from the snow, while at the same time capture some third-world traveling..
As anticipated, it was more then just surfing good waves.. There was rattlesnakes, feeding donkeys, surfing, rallying rental cars, attempting to speak spanish, snorkeling, and much much more.
After a successful and funny trip, Pollard went directly back to his computer and finished up the movie. Pep went to his sisters wedding. Andy was still dealing with dental issues. And I booked a quick flight to Whistler to get a day in with DaKine at COC.
Sure enough, we had Whistler fog both days we tried to shoot, which left us with little to no skiing footage. Directly after Whistler, Pep and I had agreed to coach at Windells for a session. So, that’s exactly what we did. We originally planned to get some more footage there, but an Oregon bug unfortunately hit me hard, giving me bronchitis and an ear infection.
Needless to say, we had another amazing couple months together, and were able to document something new, that we all truly love…
With that said and webisode 4 all wrapped up, I am here in Mammoth packing for Australia and Chile to give you the seasons last webisode of shredding powder. To make my packing more enjoyable, I put my Hunting Yeti DVD on loop. Yep, that's right, Hunting Yeti DVD's are shipping out all over the world and we are proud to announce the film is done. I got a box full of Yeti's just a couple days ago. Go to your local shop and ask for a copy. Or if you can't wait, buy them online at evogear.com and poorboyz.com.

Hello again friends, family, and supporters of Nimbus Independent’s “Hunting Yeti” project. This is your trusty correspondent Ike Smith with an update from the first month of shooting for Webisode 3.
The last half of April blessed the Northwest with steady snowfall at a lower than average elevation, so we all celebrated by skiing nearly everyday for two weeks. Chris and Pep were in Alaska filming for PBP, while the rest of the crew was in Oregon. Mt. Hood Ski Bowl was nice enough to let us come to the resort midweek for a private pow session, which produced the worlds smallest backflip session on the world’s smallest jump. Andy won the style award, with a perfect statue backflip, while I tried a double back off a jump that came up to my waist, receiving crash of the day. Once the skies started to clear, we hiked around the canyons and found some pretty cool snow formations. We were able to jump off, on, up to, and use them any which way we could. The filming hunt only lasted a day or two until the snow baked out, and with the inspiration of the “Duff Pirate” we decided to gear up for the first snow camping mission of the year.
After having such a good time in Oregon it was time to try out Washington, on a volcano that blew up in the last 30 years. The crew consisted of myself, Pollard, Mahre, Wiegand, and Felix Rioux. We took our snowmobiles with us, which made us think it would be a good idea to pull a trailer behind us. Mine was two snowboards with a plastic sled mounted on top, while Pollard and Wiegand tried the inflatable raft method. Let’s just say it took us over two hours to make it ten miles to the camp spot, and it wasn’t pretty. Once we got camp set up and ate dinner it was time to rest up for the next day. We woke up early and started to explore the mountain. It wasn’t long before finding a real nice left side hip. After some deliberation on the angle of the lip, we got it built and sessioned it for a while. It turned out to be one of the most fun jumps of the year. We decided to leave the next day, and fortunately, the ride out was much easier since all the beer was in our belly’s instead of on our backs. After a few days rest, it was time to head to Mammoth, California and meet up with Chris and Pep.
Chris, the big time local aside from my 4 year stint, got us in to hit Snowboarder Mag’s Superpark on the backside of the mountain. Since it was snowboard SP, we got to session with some crazy snowboarders. As usual Mammoth had some big hits pushed up; hips, step down, crazy three way gap, which all had real nice transitions. After a couple days back there, it was time to hit the Main Park, which had some awesome features as well. Chris, Pep, Eric, and Garrett Russell sessioned down a 10 foot section of a lift tower stuck straight up in the snow, with a 15 foot gap on and off. It was all fun and games until Pep went for a leap frog, and did a Kung Fujas straight into it. Unfortunately, the tower won. He toughed that one out as usual, while the rest of the crew got some good shots. Eric, Wiegand, and Garrett left that night to get the next camping mission lined up in Mt. Hood. Chris, Pep, Felix and I stayed behind and got to hit another amazing jump that Mammoth built on the backside. It was a bit windy, but the backdrop was beautiful and the boys got some more shots in the bag. As I write this, we’re on our way to meet up with the rest of the crew at the campsite tomorrow morning for what should be a great session on Mt. Hood, with the whole crew together for the first time this year! Could get crazy. Tune into Webisode 3 at rip.tv/nimbusindependent on June 15th and be sure to download the Hi-Def version!
Let's just get it out there from the beginning this time eh? Here's the tracks used in the second webisode:

Song 2 - Middle Eastern Swan Song, by DEEJAY OM
Song 3 - A Scene From the Disco Era, by NEW ROMAN TIMES
Song 4 - Ho Sognato, by ROBUST
Song 5 - Wrist Bizness, by OFFICER ROSELAND
Songs 6-9 = Tired Eyes, by CHRIS STOLZ and H-MOB PRODUCTIONS
Credits Song - VIASOL

The wait is over! It’s been two months since Nimbus Independent premiered their first installment of a five part webisode series titled, “Hunting Yeti”. Now on April 15th, the Nimbus crew delivers another stellar episode of documented ski culture and filmmaking. Witness the crew of Pep Fujas, Chris Benchetler, Andy Mahre, Ike Smith, Justin Wiegand, Eric Pollard, Christian Sirianni, and Shin Campos as they hit the backcountry slopes around Whistler, BC, Sonora, CA and Cooke City, MT.
The second webisode takes you more behind the scenes with injuries, travel challenges, down days, herding Bison and the crew’s snowmobiling skills, while maintaining the same signature vibe only Pollard edits bring. Also returning are some original music tracks from H-Mob Productions, the group that brought you the original soundtrack to the debut film “IDEA”.
Hello and good day to all the supporters of Nimbus Independent and the Hunting Yeti project. Ike Smith here once again, to fill you in on the wild and crazy adventures of the Nimbus crew. This time around we decided to head to a remote location nestled in the beautiful
mountains of Montana known as Cooke City. It was dumping snow at low elevation when we left Oregon, which left us wondering why we were gonna drive 16 hours to Cooke City. Such is the life of a traveling film crew.
The only way in to Cooke City is through Yellowstone National Park, which was in the dark unfortunately. It proved to be the skechiest part of the journey, as we had to herd bison off the road just to get through. Once we arrived in Cooke City, we knew we'd lucked out once again. The skies were clear, the snow was the lightest of the year(in March!) and there was virtually no one in town!
We awoke early the next morning and got after it. We arrived to a well known jump spot that already had a jump built, so we stacked it up twice as high and started hucking our meat into the 3 feet of blower Montana powder. The boys were itching to drop some cliffs and ski some lines, so we spent the rest of the day scoping stuff for the next morning. The next day was just as productive, we found a nice cliff band next to a jump spot which had two pre-built jumps on it! We couldn't believe our luck, so we decided to play on the snowmobiles for a little while to celebrate.
After day two, morale was very high, and we wondered whether we should stay a few more days to wait out the approaching weather system, or go home while we were ahead. The crew changed their minds numerous times, but decided to stay and wait. We had four down days, which turned into up days for honing our snowmobile, video game, and graphic design skills (in Pollard's case). Once again the weather cleared for half a day, and we got one more jump session in. Unfortunately Andy dislocated his shoulder, but he got it back in and toughed it out for the rest of the session. Now we are back home, except for Pep who is on his way to Alaska with PBP. Be sure to check
out rip.tv/nimbusindependent for webisode 2, which will have all the footage from this trip, plus B.C. and California, and make sure to
download the hi-def version! Over and out.
While the rest of the crew went to California, Pep and I went out to Colorado. Our mission? Film a segment for the new Warren Miller movie. Our goal? Have fun while completing the mission.
Silverton isn't like other ski areas. It has one chair lift, a bus for a rental shop, a tent for a lodge, tons of good terrain, and guides to show you around. They have their system pretty dialed in. They space out the groups, and keep track of where they have gone so you are constantly taking fresh runs. With a 10,000+ foot elevation, the snow stays good for quite awhile, even in the 40+ degree weather like we had.
The first two days Pep and I skied some decent mellow lines. We were eyeing some of the bigger terrain these two days in preperation to slide down them on the third. The third day came, we got above a cliff band that ended up being gnarlier than originally expected. By this I mean Pep was slightly off his line which sent him tumbling and bouncing off of rocks over two cliffs. I did a little billy goat mission through the cliff band to try and find one of his skis (which I didn't find). As burly as the crash was, Pep came out relatively OK. Aside from a wrist injury, and some bruises, he was pretty much fine.
The segment wasn't finished yet, so I filmed for the rest of that day, and two more days following it. I think the segment should turn out pretty well considering what happened, so I'm stoked.
I'm home now, getting ready to meet up with the crew again somewhere, somehow. Just checking the weather and snow conditions trying to decide where to go.

Hello all supporters of Nimbus and the Hunting Yeti project. Ike Smith here with a report on our most recent trip down to California. We took a whole 4 days off from our epic B.C. trip before heading south to cali where they had just received close to 4 feet of fresh snow! The crew was myself, Justin Wiegand, Eric Pollard, Erin Valverde Pollard, Christian Sirianni, Christian Pondella, and the infamous "Murf". Benchetler has a broken clavicle, while Pep and Andy were in Colorado fulfilling sponsor commitments.
The trip started off slow, as I towed 2 sleds 650 miles with my little 6cyl ford ranger (now known as the "Power Ranger". That added a couple hours to the initial journey right there. Once we arrived to our destination we were greeted with clear skies and lots of snow on the ground at low elevation! Morale was high at this point. So we got up before the sun the next morning and made it to the trailhead nice and early. Good thing, because we had a long day of getting stuck ahead of us. It was the deepest lightest snow i'd ever been in and we couldn't get anywhere in it! All I kept thinking about was how great the skiing was gonna be, and I kept only thinking about it for two days. So after two days of breaking trail for all the other crews who saved there energy for the third day, we got snaked on most of the good jump spots, Yeeehaaww! But then Benchetler (broken clavicle and all) tandemed out with Sirrianni and showed us some secret spots in his backyard and the trip turned out a success! We all got our California sun for the year, and now we're back home for some R+R before we head out again on another journey to the place where it snows every night and gets sunny every day. Over and out.
For the last 2 weeks The Nimbus Crew has been hunting the Yeti living up in Canadian Rockies. Myself, Eric Pollard, Christian Sirianni, Andy Mahre, Ike Smith, Justin Wiegand, Erin Pollard, Shin Campos, and Christian Pondella (No... that's not a big crew), are all up here in Canada drowning in the snow. When we first arrived, the snow was too deep for snowmobiling off the trail, which limited us to lower elevation pillow lines. We were a huge junk show and wouldn't get out until about noon, but once we got there the skiing was incredible.
The stormy days continued for a while, but freezing levels began to rise, so the lower elevation snow was turning for the worst. Then, sure enough, the heavens opened up and we got our sunny days. It was a bit of a shocker because now we were getting up at 5 a.m. and racing crews, but the terrain was huge and seemed endless. We ended up finding a few cliffs to start off the day, then split the crews to try and be more productive. Eric, Myself, and Sirianni went to hit a cornice that didn't have the greatest snow for landing, but we sent it anyways. Andy and Shin killed it skiing a few lines, etc...
After that sunny day the weather rolled back in, making a few more down days of watching Gossip Girl and eating Splitz burgers.. The sun once again returned for more early morning wake ups and 13 hour days. The skiing was insane, and if you liked the first webisode, make sure to tune back in for #2, we definitely had some good days.. The trip unfortunately came to a screeching holt. I hit a large step down, and re-broke my collar bone. I heard it pop and the pain set in instantly. The worst part was being 1 1/2 hours out in the b.c. with no pain meds and having to sled over millions of bumps. The crew acted fast; Eric ripped of his shirt making a sling, and Sirianni got me down.. The rest of the crew got my sled down and were a huge help. I am home now seeing the doctor today and will probably be out for a few weeks. It's a huge bummer, but I will see you in the next webisodes.... click read more to see the photos!
I know you've been waiting for it, well the time has come. Check out the full-length 28 minute version of "Hunting Yeti" available for you computer in an HD version. Big ups to the crew at Rip.Tv for busting their butts and making it available to all our fans. Show them some love people. It's best viewed on a Mac with a nice screen. Good luck to you PC folks, just find a friend who has some Apple products.
More info and updates on what's going on. We'll be telling you who the music artists are from the first series. Plus responses to many of your questions and comments on the first short film.
And we weren't going to go helicopter skiing...
Thanks.
Hey this is Gary the business guy. I apologize that the HD download versions have not yet been made available. It is our main business objective to share our viewpoint on skiing and filmmaking with as many people as possible. That's why we went with the whole webisode format and FREE HD video and iPod downloads. While the goal is having them be free for you, that doesn't mean it still doesn't cost money.
Since this distribution model has never been done before, we really don't have any method to forecast how many people would take advantage of the download services. Therefore we decided to only release the iPod version over the weekend to assist in making projections. Ya know, didn't want to go broke after the first weekend. Our partners and I would hate to come back from riding over the weekend to find we spent a few hundred thousand.
On Tuesday (US 3-day weekend) we'll check out where we stand and then determine the release the HD downloads and the full-length version in for both formats.
Thanks for checking out the first webisode and please come later next week for updates.
Cheers.
Since the snow came late this year, our project(Hunting Yeti) was forced to start late as our objectives revolve around finding fluffy soft snow. I drove to Oregon to hang with Pollard and begin the search for that elusive blurry snow monster that many report to have seen yet have only stolen a glimpse. During my stay in Oregon filming was ever so tiresome as it was the Holidays. If anyone has ever been around Hood during the Holidays, it's fun, as long as you get there for opening (a formidable task), wear the right amount of layering (not to get too hot while taking your run every half hour, and not freezing after waiting in line only to get punished by the wind on the chair), you pack a lunch (unless you are a professional at waiting in cafe lines), you wear bomb proof outerwear (you never know when it's going to start raining), and you leave by 1:30pm (a car crash is inevitable with so many ill-equipped vehicles). For those couple runs we were able to take, it was almost worth it. The deep fluffy stuff has the ability to turn any frown upside down. While Justin and I endured this fiasco, Chris Benchetler was recovering from a shoulder injury, Mahre was in the process of buying a hefty Diesel truck, and Pollard came down with a debilitating illness that had him bedridden for over a week, so I couldn't complain.
Prior to Christmas we had a great time night skiing at both Meadows and Ski Bowl with Pastey C(Sammy Carlson). For some reason night skiing has a quality about it that you cannot get out of riding during the day. Maybe it has something to do with the darkness contrasted with the pristine pureness of snow.
The whole crew finally met up in the North Cascades with the exception of Benchetler who was out destroying Japanese elephant poos, pillows and sake. Japan. Lucky. Having a hook up from K2, we were able to acquire 7 hours of heli time for relatively cheap. We rented a house across from the operation and held up there for a couple days as snow came down with unexpected fury. As it dumped we explored some of the surrounding logging trails for some easy access terrain. We didn't find any. After finding that the trailhead was only a couple miles from our pad, we decided to rally our snowmo's along the road. It seemed like a perfectly good idea. There were also signs on a small portion of the road that had signs with snowmobiles in the center outlined with green circles which gave us added confidence. green means go...right? Near the end of the day, we ran into a couple police and ranger patrols on sleds as we were out filming. They did their jobs and checked our registration and gave Erin a warning for not having her rented sled registered... not here fault. Anyway, they parted ways and we soon wrapped it up and headed down. Passing them in the parking lot, they didn't seem to mind I was heading straight for the highway. After we all got to the road he rallied past pointing aggressively to the shoulder. He scolded us as made it very apparent that despite the sign it was highly illegal and worthy of a $600 ticket. That would have been a $4,200 ticket. Come to find we made the local paper blotter. Someone had called 911 and reported us.
The snowfall continued to bless us with snow periodically and we were able to fly about 7 out of our 2 and a half week stint. Check out what went down on www.rip.tv/nimbusindependnet and our other partners Feb. 15th. Our first webisode will be released. Make sure to download the file as it is big and in high def. Watching a streaming version kills the quality.
Enjoy all the snow boys and girls!
Sorry to sound retarded or something, but when's en route going to be posted? You're probably aware that nimbusindependent.com isn't running yet... can we get some official word on that?
i love yuor guys stuff, when is the en route gonna get put up?! im stoked
Thank you guys in advance. You have motivated me to learn more parkish stuff that I plan to try to apply in the soft... And you've motivated me to film. My buddy and I are going skiing, and we'll draw our inspiration from you.
Rock on.
Yeah, we are doing it again. Next webisode drops on February 15th, if we can get everything together in time. There will be 3 big webisodes and lots of smaller clips. Thanks
Any word on season two? That would make my day, week, month, and year.
Keep shreddin' the gnar!
Party on, guys. I can't wait for 5, but you're killing us all.
WHERE ARE THE NIMBUS T-SHIRTS?!
Tired Eyes Free EP here!!!! http://www.adamfg.co.uk/index.php/blog/show/Tired-Eyes-EP.html
The DVD is a completely different edit. Instead it's based off of themes like style, ski culture, escapism, small ski hills, night riding and why the Crew came together to create Nimbus. The film has new content filmed specifically for the concept, but will feature riding you saw in only the first 3 webisodes. Oh, there is also some action that wasn't in the webisodes. Totally different feel and vibe. So webisode 4 & 5 are totally free, new bonus footage. Oh - this is Gary. CB is on a plane right now. Cheers!
CB,
I don't get it. If you guys are filming webepisode five coming up here. How can the dvd by purchased already?
Yes, Benchetler is on his way to Australia to ride with Christian Sirianni. I think he's going to spend some time in NZ too. There will be a Hunting Yeit Film premier in Wanaka, NZ on August 23, put on by our friends at Charter.
is there any way i can get hold of the song you have on the helmet cams vid please?! i've been trying to get it off the h mob guy on myspace but he didn't seem to be able to find it or something....
that would be kind of awesome.... !
I'm still having trouble with the ipod version- it refuses to play in itunes. Any solutions?
yes I agree with everyone here - you guys are changing the industry, in terms of distribution, music, switch in pow... but TiredEyes has just released an EP, all of the stuff in the episodes is in there...
Thanks, guys. The natural quarter is sick, and the variety of tricks thrown down on it was amazing as well. And nice sno-mo to backslap, Wiegand. Tired Eyes is sick too. I was stoked when I saw H-Mob tracks in here again. They were great in Idea and they're great in Yeti.
I think the music rocks, tired eyes rule, and in response to Steffen wanting the soundtrack, there is a free EP being released sometime soon!
where can i get the songs from all the episods?
TiredEyes need to give out an cd or some shit we can download, love that music so hard!
so enyone? know a place?
Thank you so much for making an so awsome film!!!
Gary here with a response to the music comments. Yes, the music is a little slower but understand it's exceptionally hard for us to source music and not go broke. Lucky for us, and you the viewer, H-Mob and Viasol hook us up with a great deal. Rip.TV also provides some music. Without their help we wouldn't be able to bring you the webisodes for free. We'll try to mix it up a little more going forward, it's just tough and a fast time-line to source music every month and a half. Thanks for the feedback as our goal is to entertain. Cheers.
super stoked again!honestly guys this webisode kicks ass . i love every single shot , but what really kinda annoys me is , that the music was consistently calm and relaxed , i would have expexted some more progressive parts , more rockmusic and hiphop in the next ones hopefully , nevertheless thanks for the opportunity to watch and download it completely free.
pete
sickest yet anybody awake?!? Thanks for being a breath of fresh air into the skiing industry. We will forever evolve!
I just saw about 1 minute of webisode 3 part 1, a whole day early. Haha. What happened there?
Webisode 3 is going to drop on June 15th. Put it on your calendar, it's going to be rad.

Hope we'll see you in france for the next video...
Oh man, I'm hooked on these webisodes. I watch them all the time and it's killing me that I have to wait so long for the next one. Another month!
Super sick episode, nice work... but how can i get the music, do H-MOB PRODUCTIONS have eny CD or something?
I love that music so sick... keep giving us good segments!!!
Please use rjd2's smoke and mirrors from the album dead ringer in one of your webisodes, it would be an amazing segment just by that song. Haha, not that you would do that but you should at least listen to it if you haven't heard it! it's a really good song.
sweet second webisode, are those rockered sfb's going to be available to the public?
hey guys ! insane second webisode , i love those booter and pillow shots . but i definitely need the soundtrack of webisode 1 aswell , maybe you can post a list of the tracks .

No it's not just you stephenlovespuppies... I had the same problem loading the iPod version onto my iPhone. We are looking into the issue and will have an answer for you shortly. You can also convert the file in Quicktime Pro if you have it.
Amazing work. Again. You keep amazing me, first with Idea, then webisode 1, now this... And that crazy 180-butter-180! I need to learn it.
webisode 2 (ipod) wont load on my ipod (says its not compatible even though its mp4/h.264), is it just me?
Currently you can see the two webisode in the selections underneath the media player. Click on those to view it. We should have it streaming above and the downloads available shortly.
A-some project. After watching Idea lots this winter and played the soundtrack lots in my earphones I must say that you guys deliver stokage maximus! Cant wait for the next webisode.
BTW when and where do we get the Hunting Yeti t-shirt with the rainy clouds?
I can't wait for the footy from BC Cali and Montana. Good luck with the shoulder, Mahre.
Just watched IDEA and I have to say I is one of the best ski flicks I have watched. No questions withe the original sound track and deep pow days it's easy on the eyes. Dude rips it up without ski poles too.

You guys are insane. Last fall, I bought Idea, and that pretty much made you guys my heroes. I had only heard of Andy Mahre, Eric Pollard, and Chris Benchettler prior to Idea. But now, I spend too much time on the internet looking for sick videos of you guys. Thanks. When I heard of Hunting Yeti, on Feb. 14th at around noon, I decided to stay up for a while. I had the downloads by 12:30, and by 2 am I had seen it about 10 times. Thank you, all. Keep shredding, and get better soon Chris.
Check out the online forum with the Nimbus Crew on Freeskier.com this upcoming Tuesday the 18th. The whole crew will be online to answer you questions.
